Day One: Marrakech – Ouarzazate:

Pick up from the hotel or Riad in Marrakech to start our trip traveling to Ouarzazate (south of Marrakech) crossing the High Atlas mountains, and drive through the truly dramatic Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260 m above sea level), admiring the beauty of the landscape and Berber villages, stopping at the Kasbah of Telouet which belongs to Pasha Glaoui , a French-Moroccan collaborator during the colonial period when we arrive at the largest Kasbah in Morocco, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah situated on a hilltop overlooking a fertile valley, (it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site) the main house of the Glaoui family. Here you will walk and climb to see the vista of the Hammada( stony desert), and explore the ancient mud brick dwellings.

We’ll have our lunch in the Kasbah before we drive to Ouarzazate (the Hollywood of Africa), here you will have a chance to visit another famous Kasbah in the heart of the city (Taourirt) which was built centrally in the best area for business to be conducted, historically, it was a very wealthy region.

Day Two: Ouarzazate – Toudgha gorges – Merzouga (sahara):

From Ouarzazate we’ll head to Merzouga. Along the road, we will enjoy the magical landscape and Kasbahs till we arrive in Kalaat Magouna, the region known as the Valley of the Roses, and its annual Rose Festival, after that we will continue our way to Sahara passing through many Berber villages, stopping for photo opportunities with panoramic views. We will also stop at the magnificent gorges of Toudgha where the high red cliffs rise on each side of this rocky, long and narrow passage. These gorges are a mecca for climber’s from all over the world. Continuing our road to the south till we arrive at Erfoud or Rissani (the origin of the King’s family) where we will have our lunch. Then we travel to Merzouga and arrive well before sunset, where we will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea in the local village. Then… we ride into the sunset on our camels, guided by an experienced desert camel-man to the middle of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes to spend the night in a comfortable Berber tent. After dinner, you’ll be entertained with Berber drums and songs around the camp fire, before you go to sleep in a traditional nomad tent, or if you prefer to sleep under the stars, this is possible.

Day Three: Merzouga – Alnif – Draa valley – Tizi N’tichka pass – Marrakech:

Your camel guide will wake you up before sunrise, to climb the sand dunes and experience the magic of sunrise in the desert, another great photo opportunity. Then back onto our camels and trek back to hotel for showers and breakfast a true Berber experience. Then we start the last day of our trip going back to Marrakech via a different road. We’ll leave the desert passing through Rissani and Alnif one of Morocco’s richest seams of fossils, continuing our way passing the black stony desert arriving N’Kob a small Berber village where we will have lunch, our route will take us along the DRAA valley, known from its fascinating palm trees. After that we’ll drive to the north via Ouarzazate and the Tizi Ntichka pass again, arriving Marrakech where the tour ends.
